On December 1, 2019 H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka attended an annual New Year reception, hosted for Heads of Foreign Diplomatic Missions, accredited to the Russian Federation, at the invitation of Hon. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

The event took place at the Bolshoi Theater and included a cocktail reception and the opera "Queen of Spades".
While attending the New Year reception, H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka met Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Sergey Lavrov and had a brief conversation, having exchanged greetings.
