Ambassador Prof. M.D. Lamawansa accompanied by Minister Counsellor Mr. Mohamed Anas and Defence Attaché Gp. Capt. Uditha Piyasena paid a visit to Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department for New Challenges and Threats, which oversees issues of international cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism, drug threat, organized crimes, corruption and piracy. The Embassy delegation was received by H.E. Vladimir Tarabrin, Director of the Department.
During the meeting, Ambassador Prof. M.D. Lamawansa and Director H.E. Vladimir Tarabrin discussed matters of mutual concern with specific attention to issues in combatting international terrorism and extremism. The parties have also discussed the prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in this field. Both sides highlighted the strong ties and shared interests of the two countries.
