The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation with the support of the Sri Lanka Export development Board organized an awareness webinar and provided the essential unique information about Ceylon cinnamon to the Russian Spices importers and wholesalers, highlighting the differences between the only True Cinnamon in the world and other varieties of cinnamon presented today in the Russian market.

The webinar attracted 14 importers and wholesalers from Russia and was also joined by Ms. Sofia Storozhenko, the representative of the Samara region CCI.
The event started with the Introduction of the Pure Ceylon Cinnamon and its Export Potential to Russian Federation, presented by Ms. Nilmini Wanasinghe, Assistant Director, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, describing the True Ceylon Cinnamon. In her speech Ms. Wanasinghe informed about the high export potential of Ceylon Cinnamon which could reach the level of export of Ceylon tea. She also underlined that Sri Lanka is a "Hot point" of organic products in the world, paying attention to the recognizable National brands with Lion for spices and Ceylon cinnamon "Born in Sri Lanka".
Further the contribution to the healthy lifestyle made by the Pure Ceylon cinnamon was described by Ms. Sashika De Silva, Director of Sales & Marketing of Cinnatopia Pvt Ltd – one of the largest suppliers of the Ceylon Cinnamon in Sri Lanka. Attention was also drawn to unique characteristics of Ceylon Cinnamon, production technology, varieties, types and forms of the product, the flavor and benefit for health.
Differences between True Cinnamon and cassia, which is widely available in the Russian market, were also discussed in details.
