Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E Prof. M.D. Lamawansa had an online discussion with Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), H.E. Ambassador Mr. Kairat Sarybay.

During the meeting, the Ambassadors spoke about the CICA structure and general philosophy governing its functions.
Both Excellencies emphasized the current importance of practical approaches in implementation of confidence building measures in public health. Ambassador Lamawansa spoke about the importance of cooperation in the field of epidemiological safety in combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The prospects for cooperation in the field of tourism within the CICA Economic Dimension, in which Sri Lanka is the co-coordinator, were also discussed.
The two Ambassadors expressed readiness to make further efforts to contribute to the function of Forum and hope for close cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the CICA Plan on Confidence Building Measures for 202, in order to strengthen the ties between the CICA Member states.
