H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Moldova presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Moldova H.E. Madame Maia Sandu on 12 of February 2021.
The official ceremony took place at the Presidential office where 6 Ambassadors representing different countries presented credence.
Ambassador Lamawansa conveyed greetings from the President of Sri Lanka H.E. Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the President of Moldova. H.E. Madame Sandu welcomed the Sri Lankan diplomat in the Republic of Moldova and expressed hope for fruitful joint work in strengthening Moldova – Sri Lanka relations and wished success in fulfilling the diplomatic duties.
The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse Dr Thamaramala Kannangara, and Mr. Mohamed Anas, DHM, Minister Counsellor.
Prior to the official ceremony Ambassador Lamawansa handed over copies of Credentials to H.E. Mr. Dumitru Socolan, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
