19 February 2021 the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow conducted online discussions between the largest Sri Lankan University – University of Peradeniya and the world famous University for international students in Russia –Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN).

The two renowned educational institutions held productive conversation covering a wide spectrum of topics, including medicine, natural sciences, engineering, agriculture and others. The parties discussed prospects of educational and academic cooperation and agreed to hold further meetings to sign the Memorandum of Understanding.
Prof. M. D. Lamawansa, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, underlined the long term relations of RUDN (previously, Patrice Lumumba University) with the Sri Lankan community and the desire of Sri Lankan side to develop and build on this friendly relation. Ms. Larisa Efremova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of RUDN, in her turn highlighted the fact that the RUDN University's one of the primary goals of the University is to prepare highly professional specialists for foreign countries and develop their economic potential. Prof. Saluka R. Kodituwakku, Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Peradeniya, in his turn, expressed unconditional desire to establish partnership with the RUDN University.
The profound attitude of the both Universities was evident from the number of specialists participating at the meeting; from the University of Peradeniya side: representatives of the International Relations Office, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts; from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia: representatives of the Department for International Scientific and Educational Cooperation, Institute of Medicine, Faculty of Sciences, Academy of Engineering, Institute for Agrarian Technologies. The Embassy team responsible for education also participated in the event and will facilitate to further development of relations between the two Universities.
