On the second day of his official visit to Uzbekistan, Ambassador H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa met Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic Mr. Azizov. During the meeting the parties briefed on the state and prospects of Health Sectors and medical education in both counties, exchanged their views on the matters of mutual concern, including primary healthcare, rehabilitation, control on Covid-19 and investment opportunities. Potential areas for collaboration were also touched upon.

In the framework of the visit to Tashkent, the Ambassador takes efforts to enhance both bilateral and multilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan and as well as international organizations.
Thus, H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa paid a call on the Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO) in Tashkent Mr.J.Giyosov.
The meeting took place in the headquaters of RATS SCO and was also attended by the 1st Secretary Ms. Nirosha Herath, and PA to Ambassador Ms. Olessya Romanova from the Embassy side and Deputy Directors representing member countries and leading experts of RATS SCO.
During the meeting the parties discussed signing of Protocol on collaboration in the field of countering terrorism, separatism and extremism and further possibilities to enhance the cooperation in different formats by sharing relevant information and exchanging best practices in counterring terrorism.
Both sides expressed readines to expand collaboration.
The Embassy delegation visited the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan. The guests were received by the Director of the Museum Ms. Zhannat Ismailova and were invited for a tour of the main exposition of the museum with ancient unique items diplaying contribution of Uzbekistan to the human civilization development.
The Ambassador and the Director shared their views on potential forms of interaction between the museums of Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan.
The visits were followed by an interview to one of Uzbekistan TV channels. Ambassador H.E. Prof. Lamawansa spoke about the friendly relations established between Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan, significance of culture in both countries, opportunities to further expand and strengthen cooperation in trade and economy, promotion of inbound and outbound tourism, as well as potential to develop links in the spheres of education, health and culture.
