Group Captain Uditha Piyasena, Counsellor, Defence, at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow, joined the group of about 80 representatives of the military and diplomatic corps from 52 countries, accredited in Russia, who visited the Ashuluk training ground of the 185th Centre for combat training and combat use of Aerospace Forces of Russia in the Astrakhan region on April 27-28, 2021.

The foreign officers observed the live firing of the S-400 "Triumph" long-range anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as the "Pantsir-S" short-range anti-aircraft missile and gun systems, as part of the exercise for detecting and destroying the training air targets. The tactical episode consisted of three stages to work out the organizing of air defence to repel a notional enemy's missile and air strikes.
The demonstration was preceded by a short tour of the ancient city of Astrakhan on the Volga river for the foreign guests. The programme of the visit also included a briefing by the Head of the 185th Centre, Major General Alexey Rotko, who introduced to the foreign military attaches the features of the Centre's main activities, its structure, and the equipment and weapons, used for fulfilling the training tasks of the Russian Aerospace forces and air defence troops of the Armed Forces of friendly states. Colonel Alexei Litvinov, a representative of the Yaroslavl Higher Military School of Air Defence, acquainted the military attaches of foreign countries with the specifics and possibilities of training foreign military personnel in the specialties of air defence at the school in Yaroslavl.
