111An event devoted to agriculture tourism, conducted in the Republic of Karelia on 27th May 2022 attracted about 200 participants from the Russian Federation and other countries to share the experience and discuss the perspectives and challenges of agriculture and eco-tourism.

The Seminar, organized on the basis of Karelian Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Agricultural Personnel and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Republic of Karelia was opened by Ms. Maximova L.R., rector of the Karelian Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Personnel in the Agroindustrial Complex, followed by the speech of Deputy Head of the Tourism Department of the Republic of Karelia and Deputy Head of the Agricultural Production Development Department Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Republic of Karelia.

The Embassy representative has delivered a presentation on Sri Lanka Tourism covering agriculture, eco-tourism opportunities including forest retreats, village and farm recreations, mentioning the investment opportunities available in fishery sector.

On the sidelines of the event a meeting was arranged between the Embassy representative and the largest Tour Operator of the Republic of Karelia, where introduction of eco-tours in Sri Lanka was discussed.
