On 12 August 2022, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized an introductory online meeting between the University of Kelaniya and the Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University, Belarus. The meeting hosted by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, gathered Prof. Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director, Centre for International Affairs of the University of Kelaniya, Mr. Sergey Machekin, Head of the International Relations Department of the Mogilev State University and their staff members.
The representatives of the two Universities made presentations about their institutions and came up with proposals for cooperation, such as establishment of joint master degree, scientific collaboration, arrangement of specific courses for staff and students, summer exchange schools, etc.
The sides agreed that the Universities share many similarities and common subjects, such as languages, sciences, economics, etc. The Heads of the International Departments agreed to take speedy actions to exchange proposals for cooperation, draft Memorandums of Understandings and make efforts to sign them at the earliest to implement the joint projects.
