Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, visited the city of Kursk and participated in a series of events organized by the Kursk State Medical University (KSMU), where more than 200 Sri Lankan students obtain their higher education.
H. E. the Ambassador held a meeting with the Administration of the KSMU, visited its most important sights, such as accreditation and simulation center, anatomy theater, etc., participated as a special guest in the ceremony dedicated to the first day of the new academic year and presented international freshmen with their student IDs.
In the framework of the celebrations, the Rector of the Kursk State Medical University, Prof. V. A. Lazarenko, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Senior Professor Sudantha Liyanage. Under this agreement, the two major Universities will take actions to create conditions for the development of scientific research in various fields of medicine and in the field of higher medical education, train medical personnel, develop joint educational programs, public scientific, educational and methodological literature, conduct internships, organize and conduct congresses, conferences, seminars, etc.
Signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation will contribute to further improvement of educational, scientific and humanitarian links between Sri Lanka and Russia. This Mission would like to express its special gratitude to Assoc. Professor, Mohamad Chahine, Director of the International Medical Institute of the KSMU and Hony. Consul of Sri Lanka to the Kursk Region for his assistance in organizing this visit and continuous support to Sri Lanka in Russia.
