Subsequent to the visit of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation, to the Republic of Dagestan, on 06 September 2022 there was held an online meeting between the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and the Dagestan State University, Russia.

The two Universities had discussed cooperation in 2014, however this time both sides expressed determination to bring it from paper to reality. Heads of both Universities took part in the event: Prof. A. Rameez, Vice Chancellor of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, and Prof. M. H. Rabadanov, Rector of the Dagestan State University. Apart of signing a new MoU the sides agreed to mutually participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, focus on cooperation on research and innovations, publications, student and academic exchange, training and postgraduate education.
The meeting concluded with the sides expressing their intention to sign the MoU at the earliest.
