On 09 September 2022, a Sri Lankan delegation headed by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, and including Senior Professor Sudantha Liyanage, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow, visited Tver, Russia.

The delegation was invited by the Tver State Medical University, which organized a tour around the University, demonstrated its halls and laboratories, library and museum. H. E. the Ambassador met Sri Lankan students obtaining higher education in the University and held discussions with the Rector of the University, Prof. L. V. Chichanovskaya, and the Administration on further improvement of relations with Sri Lanka, the terms of stay of Sri Lankan students, etc.
The sides also discussed in details cooperation between the Tver State Medical University and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in the sphere of education, science, research, academic cooperation, exchange of experience, participation in joint conferences and workshops, etc. The Universities signed the Memorandum of Understanding and will be further working closely to apply the agreement and reach the new level of cooperation.
