The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized on 28 September 2022 an online meeting between the Chuvash State Pedagogical University (ChSPU), Russia and the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and the University of Vavuniya.
The meeting, which was opened by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, gathered Prof. A. Rameez, Vice Chancellor of the South Eastern University, Prof. T. Mangaleshwaran, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Vavuniya and Prof. Igor V. Kozhanov, Vice-Rector of the ChSPU, as well as the staff members of the Universities.

During the meeting, the parties presented their educational organizations, made such proposals for cooperation in the near future as: exchange of students and academic staff, academic information and material, organization of joint research programs, conferences, workshop and symposia, carrying out joint research supervision for undergraduate students, master degree and PhD, organizing joint cultural events, etc. Both sides mutually stressed the need to develop cooperation between regional universities of Sri Lanka and Russia and expressed the wish to sign Memorandums of Understanding at the earliest.
