The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized on 29 September 2022 a visit of Russian students of the International Relations Programme, Moscow Metropolitan Governance University named after Yury Luzhkov, to the Embassy.

In the framework of development of friendly relations with the University, Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, invited the students of the 3rd and 4th course to visit the Residence and the Chancellery to get introduced to the work of the foreign Mission.
H. E. the Ambassador warmly welcomed the students and the representatives of the University. In her speech, Prof. Liyanage underlined the close educational relations, which bind Sri Lanka and Russia for many years and expressed the wish that the visit of the students will contribute to further development of these links.
The Embassy prepared a number of presentations and explained to the students the principles of the Embassy functioning. Ms. Ruvini Munidasa, Head of Chancellery, spoke about the structural system of the Embassy, Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister Counsellor, delivered a speech on the vision and mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Mr. Tishan De Silva, Third Secretary, gave an insight on the work of Sri Lankan Tea Promotion Bureau in Russia, Ms. Anna Makarovskaya spoke on trade and tourism opportunities and Ms. Julia Beliaeva made a presentation on the educational and cultural projects of the Embassy.
During the Q&A session, the students eagerly asked the representatives of the Mission on the work in the Embassy, innovative projects introduced in Sri Lanka, best places in Moscow to purchase Sri Lankan tea, etc.
The students could further taste the traditional Ceylon tea with some Sri Lankan pastries and the visit finished with an excursion to the Embassy cultural corner, where students could see and examine colourful Sri Lankan masks, dresses and other cultural items.
