In the framework of the Embassy efforts to establish links between Russian and Sri Lankan Universities, on 18 October 2022 an online meeting was held between the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) and the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka.

At the meeting headed by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, Vice Chancellor of the Uva Wellassa University, Ms. Marina Batalina, Head of International Cooperation Office of the HSE, and their teams discussed the possible steps to bind the two educational institutions.
The sides paid special attention to cooperation in the spheres of agricultural economics, agribusiness, export-oriented agriculture and food science. Both Universities agreed to work on mutual participation in conferences and seminars, develop student and academic mobility, conduct joint research and sign the Memorandum of Understanding.
