On October 27, 2022 Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage attended the Glass of Champagne ceremony in honour of newly appointed Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka H.E. Levan Jagaryan at the invitation of Foreign Minister of Russia H.E. Sergey Lavrov.

The Ceremony took place at a beautiful hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and was specially organized on the eve of the departure of the Russian Ambassador.
Ambassador Prof. Liyanage extended congratulations to Ambassador Mr. Jagaryan with his new posting and assured of her full support for strengthening traditionally friendly relationship for the betterment of both countries.
Foreign Minister H.E. Lavrov and H.E. Prof. Janitha Liyanage spoke about new projects and developments in bilateral cooperation.

One week earlier H.E. the Ambassador Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage took part in the Presentation of Karelia region of Russia at the invitation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, where Her Excellency exchanged greetings with H.E. Sergey Lavrov in Sinhala language. To recollect, Sri Lanka was the country of the first diplomatic posting of the Foreign Minister Lavrov.
