Following the visit of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Moscow, to Ekaterinburg, the Embassy organized an online introductory meeting between the Ural Federal University, University of Kelaniya, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and University of Moratuwa.

The meeting gathered Prof. Victor Anatolyevich Koksharov, Rector of the Ural Federal University, Dr. D. P. Chandrasekera, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa, Snr. Prof. Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director, Centre for International Affairs of the University of Kelaniya, Prof. A. Jahfer, Director/Quality Assurance Cell of the South Eastern University and other staff of the Universities.
In the course of the discussion, the representatives made introductions to their Universities, came up with proposals for cooperation and highlighted the areas of common interest for future collaboration, such as guest lectures, organizing online courses, summer camps, joint publications and research, student and staff exchange, establishment of joint programmes, etc. The sides decided to begin cooperation with signing Memorandums of Understanding and mutual participation in conferences.
