In the first decade of November, 2022, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage brought a high level delegation from Moscow to Colombo.

The delegation headed by a major Russian developer and investor, the Chair of the Board of Russia – Sri Lanka Friendship Society Mr. Petr Ryzhkov, and Secretary General of Russian Association for International Cooperation, Vice President of Russia – Sri Lanka Friendship Society Mr. Vladimir Polozkov, accompanied by H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage paid a call on Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Hon. M.U.M. Ali Sabry.
The matters pertaining to strengthening and expanding collaboration between the countries, trade and investment opportunities were discussed during the meeting.

During the visit, the delegation was also received by the State Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Tharaka Balasuriya, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Plantations and Industry Hon. Ramesh Pathirana and other high-level dignitaries to discuss areas of common interest in order to explore investment potential and mutually beneficial business opportunities.
