On 13 December 2022, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia conducted an introductory online meeting between the Ural State University of Economics (USUE), Russia, and the University of Vavuniya.
The sides, represented by Mr. R. V. Krasnov, Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy of the USUE, Dr. Nimalan J., Acting Vice-Chancellor, University of Vavuniya, and other staff of the Universities discussed potential collaboration between the two establishments, highlighted the priority areas of activity, such as business and management studies, expressed interest in collaboration via staff and student exchange, exchange of information on research and educational programmes, establishment of online and offline short term courses, etc.
The sides assured that they are highly interested in enhancing innovation, research and quality of education through cooperation. In her turn, Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, expressed hope that the Universities would be able to sign a Memorandum of Understanding at the earliest and establish mutually beneficial cooperation.
