On December 16, 2022 Ambassador H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage went to the Bolshoi Theatre at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Sergey Lavrov, who traditionally hosts Heads of Missions for an annual festive seasonal reception at the Bolshoi. This year it was for the ballet performance of Swan Lake.

The programme commenced with address by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov. Greeting H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Foreign Minister Lavrov spoke in Sinhala, asking about her health and well-being: "Kohomada? Hodin innawada?" The speech of Foreign Minister was followed by a cocktail reception at the Beethoven Hall and a wonderful performance of ballet dance.
