On 29 December 2022, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized an introductory online meeting between the Innopolis University and the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWIC).

The sides, represented by Prof. Ranjana W. Seneviratne, Vice Chancellor of GWIC, Dr. Asanka Pallewatta, Director, Gampaha Wickramarachchi International Center, Mr. Petr Zhdanov, Head of International Department of Innopolis, and their staff discussed potential cooperation between the Universities in the spheres of smart agriculture, IT, business management, sustainable energy, etc. The Universities express desire for development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding, conducting joint research, especially in the field of cyber medicine, etc.
Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, who headed the meeting, noted that using experience of the Innopolis University in various fields, especially engineering, the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine will be able to develop and make a step forward in its research and teaching methodology.
