Mr. A. V. Koksharov, Rector of the Ural Federal University, visited the University of Colombo to discuss future collaboration and signed Memorandum of Understanding with Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, on 25 January 2023.

The signed MoU will promote joint research, capacity building and student/staff mobility between the two institutions. In the course of the visit, the heads of the two prestigious Universities drafted a roadmap of cooperation and decided to follow it for the mutual benefit of the institutions, as well as relations of the two countries.
The event took place in the framework of the visit of the delegation of Sverdlovsk region of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka, initiated by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation. The delegation was accompanied by Ms. Anna Makarovskaya, staff member of the Embassy. The Embassy extends its gratitude to Tilan M. Wijesooriya, Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka, his facilitation to organization of the visit.
