On February 4th, 2023, Sri Lanka celebrated its 75th Independence day. In the Republic of Belarus, with its Sri Lankan community of over 1875 people, most of whom are students, the celebrations were held at the Grodno State Medical University.

The solemn events started with an exhibition "My Beautiful Motherland of Sri Lanka," arranged by the students, which was followed by a concert.
During the event, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia and Belarus H.E. Prof. Janita A. Liyanage, Sri Lankan Honorary Consul to Belarus Dimitri Ruzanov, Rector of the Grodno University Igor Zhuk, and other officials shared their words of greeting and congratulations.
