The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized on 07 February 2023 an online introductory meeting between the Ural State University of Economics (USUE) and the University of Moratuwa.

In the course of the meeting the sides were represented by Mr. Roman Krasnov, Vice-Rector for Social Work and Youth Policy of the USUE, and Prof. Gamini Lanarolle, Director for International Relations of the University of Moratuwa, as well as their staff. After presentation of both Universities the sides discussed the areas of possible cooperation, which included such fields as business and tourism management, IT. The sides paid special attention to student and academic exchange and expressed the wish of looking into the possibility to establish double degree diploma programmes.
The USUE also invited the University of Moratuwa to participate in its annual Eurasian Economic Youth Forum in April this year. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Russia, wished both Universities to establish sustainable cooperation and called on signing the Memorandum of Understanding at the earliest for further implementation of the planned initiatives.
