The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Belarus, organized an official visit of the Gomel State Medical University, Belarus, to Sri Lanka.

In the course of the visit, on 17 February 2023, Prof. V. A. Melnik, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Gomel State Medical University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Peradeniya.
Prof. M. D. Lamawansa, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, warmly greeted the Vice Rector. The parties agreed to intensify cooperation on academic mobility of students and teachers, joint research projects and mutual participation in conferences.
