On 16 February 2023 Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, paid a visit to the Russian University of Transport (RUT (MIIT).

The delegation of the Embassy was warmly welcomed by Prof. Alexandr Klimov, Rector of RUT (MIIT), who gave a detailed overview of previous cooperation between the University and Sri Lankan institutions.

The Russian University of Transport, which is the largest and oldest University in Russia under the Ministry of transport, majors in training specialists for the railway, sea, river and road transport in the field of logistics, management, engineering, etc.

The Rector of the University expressed interest to cooperation in the field of training of personnel for the Republic of Sri Lanka in technical transport specialties, organization of exchange of professors and teachers, researchers and students, conducting joint scientific research on issues of mutual interest, conducting joint scientific and practical conferences and seminars, organization of advanced training and retraining of employees of the transport industry of the Republic of Sri Lanka and other sectors of the economy on various topics, etc.

After the official part, the representatives of the International Department of the University invited the Embassy delegation to visit the practical facilities of the University, as well as its Museum, where at the invitation of the University H. E. the Ambassador left a note in the honorary visitors’ book.
