On 21 February 2023, an official delegation of the Gomel State Medical University (GSMU), Belarus, visited the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWU).

In the course of a signing ceremony organized with assistance of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Belarus, Professor Ranjana Wickrema Seneviratne, Vice-Chancellor of GWU, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, together with his counterpart Dr. Igor Stoma, Rector of GSMU.
The ceremony was also attended by Prof. V. A. Melnik, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of GSMU, Dr. Asanka Pallewatta, Director of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi International Center, and other staff members of GWU.
The sides agreed to use the MoU as the first step for the future productive collaboration between the Universities.
