On 06 March 2023, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized a meeting between the Ural State University of Economics (USUE), Russia, and the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEU).
The two Universities represented by the Heads of the International Cooperation Department – Ms. O. A. Bazhenova from the USUE side and Mr. M.S.A. Riyad Rooly from the SEU – discussed the prospects of enhancing and strengthening international collaboration in the field of economics, finance, management, tourism and hospitality, engineering and technologies.
With the purpose of joint research excellence, knowledge sharing and capacity development of the staff and students the sides agreed to negotiate on signing a Memorandum of Understanding, which would include such activities as student and academic staff exchange, online courses, double degrees, joint educational programmes and mutual participation in international events.
Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, wished the two Universities to establish strong collaboration and make use of multiple similarities shared by the parties.
