At the initiative of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, an online meeting was held on 24 May 2023 between Innopolis University and Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT).

The two sides represented by Prof. Alexander Tormasov, Rector of the Innopolis University, Prof. Pradeep Abeygunawardhna, Dean International of SLIIT, and other staff members of the respective Universities held a productive discussion, which allowed them to identify the areas of mutual interest and deliberate on the areas in which the two Universities could establish cooperation.
The sides expressed particular interest to student mobility programmes, educational exchange, scientific research and establishment of links with industrial partners. The Universities decided to prepare proposals for cooperation and take necessary actions to establish strong links.
