On May 30, 2023, H.E. the Ambassador Prof. Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage presented her Letters of Credence to the President of Kazakhstan H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The solemn ceremony of presenting credentials traditionally took place at the Akorda Presidential palace and welcomed Ambassadors of five foreign states including the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippine, the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Angola.
Addressing the Ambassadors, the President Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan pursues a peaceful foreign policy and open to international cooperation. His Excellency congratulated the Ambassadors on the official start of their diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan and wished them success in further strengthening of bilateral cooperation. The President Tokayev conveyed his best wishes and regards to the Heads of the countries represented by Ambassadors in the ceremony.
Ambassador H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage conveyed regards from the President of Sri Lanka H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe and assured her commitment to strengthening the friendly relationship with Kazakhstan.
The Ceremony was followed by a press scrum, during which Sri Lankan envoy Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage answered questions from a number of Khazakhstan media on the plans for enhancing the interaction.
