Following the visit of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, to the Republic of Tatarstan, an online introductory meeting was arranged between the Kazan Federal University (KFU, Russia), the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWUIM) and the University of Moratuwa (UOM) on 06 June 2023.
At the meeting the sides were represented by Dr. Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the KFU, Prof. Ranjana W. Seneviratne, Vice Chancellor of the GWUIM, and Dr. Asanka Pallewatta, Director of the GWUIM International Center, Prof. Gamini Lanarolle, Director of the International Relations of the UOM, and other staff members of the Universities.
The three Universities made presentations and highlighted the proposals for potential cooperation, such as joint research, student and staff mobility, joint conferences, knowledge and information sharing, summer schools, etc. The spheres of interest which were especially noted were medicine, artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, architecture, IT and others.
The sides agreed to continue communication and work on signing the Memorandums of Understanding, which would enable them to introduce cooperation projects.
