Following the visit of Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Transport of Sri Lanka, to Russia, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized an online introductory meeting between the Rostov State Transport University (RSTU) and the Sri Lanka Railways.

The meeting was graced by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Mr. W.A.D.S. Gunasinghe, General Manager of the Sri Lanka Railways, Prof. Vladimir Dmitrievich Vereskun, Rector of the RSTU and other staff members.
After sharing introductory presentations, the two sides conducted a discussion on the possibilities of collaboration, in particular in the academic sphere, and came up with several proposals to modernize the Sri Lanka German Railway Technical Training Centre (SLGRTTC). The Centre expressed its interest in starting training and exchange programmes, scholars' consultations and joint researches.
To start collaboration, the sides agreed to work on the initiated proposals and develop a Memorandum of Understanding.
