Following opening of the I. Yakovlev Center for the Study of the Russian Language and Culture established by the I. Yakovev Chuvash State Pedagogical University on the platform of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine with the support of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia, 150 students successfully completed their studies in the Center.
100 of the students passed the state exam, a test in Russian as a foreign language at the elementary level of proficiency in five subtests: Vocabulary and Grammar, Reading, Listening, Writing, Speaking. Achieving this level of Russian language proficiency allows a foreigner to satisfy elementary communication needs when communicating with native speakers in a minimum set of situations. The students will soon receive state certificates.
The course continued from 15 July to 26 August 2023 in an offline format. Despite the difficulties of the Russian language that the course participants faced, they showed genuine interest in further studying it and warmly thanked the teachers.
The Chuvash State Pedagogical University is determined to continue its cooperation with the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine and other Universities and schools of Sri Lanka in the future.
