The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition "Tea? Coffee? Spirit and Traditions of Hospitality", which took place in the town of Torzhok, Tver region, on 17 October 2023.
The guests of the Opening Ceremony enjoyed traditional as well as modern Sri Lankan dances and songs performed by the talented Sri Lankan students of the Tver State Medical University. The guests also had the opportunity to taste a cup of flavourful Ceylon tea and explore Sri Lankan culture and history through traditional design and handicraft items from the collection of the Embassy of Sri Lanka. Among the exhibit items, the visitors could see Sri Lankan batik paintings, well-crafted ornaments, indigenous masks, traditional musical instruments, eloquently replicated Kandyan bridal dress and elements of Sri Lankan hospitality and culture.
The Opening Ceremony was graced by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, Mr. Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, H. E. the Ambassador of Indonesia to Russia, as well as the staff of the two Missions, Ms. Anna Borunova, Acting Head of Torzhok town, Ms. Elena Hohlova, Head of Torzhok District of Tver region, Ms. Nadezhda Vyskubova, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Tver region, Ms. Irina Zhukova, Director of the All-Russian Historical and Ethnographic Museum and other Russian officials.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Russian Association for International Cooperation, the Art Project Via Artist's Eyes, the Museum House of the Susloparovs and the Embassy of Indonesia in Russia. The platform for the exhibition was granted by the All-Russian Historical and Ethnographic Museum Pozharsky Hotel.
The Embassy presents its special compliments to Ms. Darya Karacheva and Mr. Artur Mirzhoyan, Curators of the Art Project Via Artist's Eyes, Ms. Tatyana Magarevich, Director of the Museum House of the Susloparovs and Ms. Katerina Mazunova, the Curator of the Museum, for organizing the event at the highest level.
The Exhibition is open to the public until 19 November 2023.
