On November 30, 2023 an online meeting on trade and economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Belarus took place. Sri Lanka was represented by State Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Tharaka Balasuriya and Ambassador Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage. Director of the National Center for Marketing Mr. Nikolay Borisevich participated from Belarus side.

The parties discussed the opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the promising areas including agrarian and food sectors, agricultural engineering, rubber, fertilizers and chemical industries. The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow and the Belarus National Centre for Marketing confirmed their readiness to assist in organizing business visits of the Lankan business to the Republic of Belarus for substantive discussion of specific projects and initiatives. The parties agreed to work out the possibility of holding bilateral business events involving representatives of various sectors of both countries.
