H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Moscow, prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, held a working meeting with the First Person of the textile industry of Russia - President of the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Apparel Industry, member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Committee on Textile and Apparel Industry of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Mr. A.V. Razbrodin.

At the meeting, the Russian side expressed high interest in cooperation, saying that due to the current geopolitical situation in the world, many well-known global brands have left Russia, leaving shelves and entire stores in large shopping malls empty. Thanks to this, Russian entrepreneurs are interested in both purchasing finished products and placing contract production in factories in Sri Lanka.
In addition, the President of the Association of Apparel Exporters, Mr. Indika Liyanahewage, who was present at the meeting, was invited to represent the textile industry of Sri Lanka at the largest events in this sector: the International Textile Exhibition FASHION STYLE RUSSIA, which will be held in Moscow from 19 to 22 February and the contract exhibition garment factories - F-EXPO 2024, which will be held in Moscow on February 20-21, 2024.
