At the invitation of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia (Education and Trade), visited the Opening Ceremony of the 26th Cultural Week of the Asian Students' Association and the students concert dedicated to the event.
In the framework of the Exhibition displaying the rich heritage of Asian cultures, the Sri Lankan students of the RUDN University introduced the visitors of the Opening Ceremony to Sri Lankan traditions and customs, gave them the opportunity to taste Ceylon tea and traditional sweets and performed a beautiful dance.
In his welcome speech to the audience, Mr. Chamila Jayarathna underlined the importance of cultural diversity and building bridges in the multicultural community of the RUDN University. The Minister also wished all participants a successful event and later was accompanied by the University representatives around the stalls of different Asian countries, such as Sri Lanka, China, India, Iran, Vietnam, etc.
As a continuation of the event, the students arranged a colourful concert with participation of all Asian countries, including Sri Lanka, during which representatives of Sri Lanka performed modern and traditional dances and songs.
