On 12 February 2024, Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia took part in the Awarding Ceremony of Russian Language Certificates organized by the University of Vavuniya.

In the framework of development of cooperation between the University of Vavuniya and the UI. Y. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University (ChSPU), from the beginning of October to the end of December 2023 the ChSPU organized an online Russian language course for 32 students of the University of Vavuniya.
H. E. Levan S. Dzhagaryan, Ambassador of Russia to Sri Lanka and Maldives, Prof. T. Mangaleswaran, Vice Chancellor of the University of Vavuniya, and Dr. Ravinthirakumaran Navaratnam, Director of the International Division, presented certificates to 16 students who successfully passed the basic level of the course.
Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, Assistant professor Igor Kozhanov, Rector of the ChSPU and Mr. Alexander Kirillov, Head of the Department for Scientific and Innovative Work of the University joined the meeting online and congratulated both the students and the staff of the University of Vavuniya on completing such an important milestone of cooperation.
The Chuvash State Pedagogical University is planning to continue cooperation with the University of Vavuniya, as well as other Sri Lankan Universities to disseminate the Russian language in Sri Lanka.
