In the framework of her stay in the Republic of Chuvashia, Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, visited the Federal Center of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Arthroplasty on 27 March 2024.

The Center, which recently celebrated its 15th anniversary, is on the second place in Russia for the volume of primary prosthetics. The Center performs a full range of operations on the bone and joint system, allowing patients to significantly improve their quality of life, including such complex ones as correction of various types of spinal deformity, minimally invasive spinal surgery, reconstructive plastic and revision surgical interventions.
The Ambassador was received by Dr. Nikolay Nikolaev, Chief Physician, and other staff of the Center, who made a tour around the Departments, introduced Prof. Liyanage to the unique facilities of the Center, its modern technologies and practices. The sides also discussed in detail the possibilities to establish educational links between the Medical Faculties of Sri Lankan Universities and the Federal Center of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Arthroplasty, as well as the opportunities for Sri Lankan students to undergo various training programmes on the platform of the Center. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage and Dr. Nikolay Nikolaev agreed to undertake efforts to arrange bilateral visits of delegations, which would contribute to the exchange of knowledge in this important sphere of healthcare.
