Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, accompanied by Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister of the Embassy, paid a visit to the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI) on 25 April 2024.

The delegation was cordially welcomed by Mr. Artyom Azhgirevich, Candidate of Sciences, Rector of MADI, Mr. Igor Artemyev, First Vice Rector, Vice Rector for Educational Activities and other representatives of the University Administration.
MADI is one of the largest universities in Russia, the leading research and educational center for training in various fields: road, bridges and airport construction, operation and service of transport, economics and management in transport and construction, automated systems of management, traffic safety and management. More than 3500 foreign students currently study in the University, including students from Sri Lanka.
The sides discussed the possible directions of cooperation, which included establishment of collaboration with Sri Lankan Universities, founding of MADI Russian language center in Sri Lanka, participation of Sri Lankan students in MADI Olympiad, which entitles them to obtain scholarship to study in the University, potential collaboration with the Sri Lanka German Railway Technical Training Centre, further training of Sri Lankan road construction engineers, general contribution of the University to the transport facilities of the island etc.
H. E. the Ambassador and the Rector agreed that this collaboration could lead to mutual enrichment of knowledge and experience and decided to continue cooperation for the benefit of both countries.
