From 23-25 April, 2024, Saint Petersburg hosted the 12th International Meeting of High-Ranking Officials, Responsible for Security Matters. The Meeting was attended by Secretaries of Security Councils, national security advisers, deputy Prime Ministers, heads of security and intelligence agencies from 106 countries, as well as representatives of international organisations. The conference served as a platform for addressing topical security challenges and discussing international collaboration aimed at addressing various security threats facing the world today.
On 24 April, the plenary session was focused on the problems of ensuring information security in a polycentric world order. On the next day, the agenda included the topic of preserving the national identity and traditional values of the world's States as an indispensable element in maintaining international security, peace and stability.
Sri Lanka was represented by Secretary, Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne. Sri Lankan delegation participated in a number of plenary sessions, round table discussions, and bilateral meetings during the forum.
