On 26 April 2024, the Embassy of Sri Lanka organized an introductory online meeting between the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI) University and the University of Moratuwa.

In the course of the meeting, the sides were represented by Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister (Education) of the Embassy, Mr. Igor Artemyev, First Vice Rector, Vice Rector for Educational Activities of the MADI University, Dr Samaradivakara GVI, Director for International Relations of the University of Moratuwa, as well as other officials.
The two Universities are leading institutions in the respective countries in the spheres of engineering and IT. Both sides expressed sincere interest to establishment of direct links and discussed the possibility of establishment of double degree diploma, further and advanced training of specialists, establishment of a Russian Language Center, student and academic exchange, singing of a Memorandum of Understanding, etc.
