At the invitation of the Russian Government Ms. Ruvini Munidasa, Chargé d'Affaires a. i., Counsellor, and Gp. Capt. Sanoj Jayaratne, Counsellor (Defence) observed the Victory Parade on the Red Square, Moscow, on 09 May 2024. The Parade is held annually to commemorate the Victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.

The President of Russia, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, congratulated the Nation on the 79th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism.
Alongside with the President of Russia on the stand were Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Guinea-Bissau, Lao People's Democratic Republic, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Russia. The marching column on Red Square included 30 ceremonial regiments of over 9 000 service personnel, the parade also included the motorised column and an aerial part.
