Ambassador P. M. Amza participated in the Ceremonial Opening of the permanent exhibition Peoples of South Asia (Nikolaevsky Hall) of the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on 17 June 2024.
The new exhibition features exhibits from India and Sri Lanka. The exhibition includes 1 046 items, 90 percent of which had not been exhibited before. The Museum paid special attention to the trip of Prince Nicholas II to the East, as well as to the items collected during the expeditions of 1914–1918 by Russian ethnographers Alexander and Lyudmila Mervart.
In his speech Ambassador P. M. Amza highlighted the special link, which binds together Sri Lanka and Russia across the centuries and expressed his gratitude to the staff of the Kunstkamera Museum for their continuous efforts to bring Sri Lankan culture and history to the Russian public.
