As part of the visit to Kursk region, Ambassador P.M. Amza, Head of Sri Lankan Mission in the Russian Federation had a productive meeting with the Rector of Kursk State Medical University Prof. Viktor Lazarenko on July 6, 2024. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohamad Toufic Chahine, Hony. Consul of Sri Lanka in Kursk.
Ambassador P.M. Amza appreciated the standards of education provided to Sri Lankan students and noted that the Kursk State Medical University produced more than 1000 Medical Doctors for Sri Lanka since 1997. The number of graduates proved the strong educational ties established with the KSMU.
Ambassador Amza and Rector Professor Lazarenko discussed the current status of cooperation including online lectures to be delivered by Sri Lankan Professors on tropical diseases, strong expertise of the University and possibility to expand cooperation in biotechnology, dentistry, and economics in health care etc.
The substantial discussion with the Administration of the University was followed by a meeting with Sri Lankan students. All 138 students, who are currently studying at the Kursk State Medical University, came to meet with Ambassador Amza and to share their experiences in Kursk.
Ambassador Amza had a tour around the University facilities, including the Anatomical Theatre with a unique collection of educational items on display and state-of-the-art equipment in the lecture hall, the recently opened University Clinic and a modern library.
