On August 07, 2024, Ambassador P.M. Amza, Head of the Sri Lankan Mission in the Russian Federation met with Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The Embassy was also represented by Ms. Ruvini K. Munidasa, Head of Chancery/Counsellor (Political) and Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister (Education and Culture). Mr. Mikhail Troyansky, Vice-Rector for Professional Retraining, Associate Professor of the Department of Diplomacy and Consular Service, PhD in History, Ambassador Alexander Kramarenko, Director of the Institute of Current International Issues, Ms. Natalya Strigunova, Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Public Relations and Scientific Coordination took part in the meeting from the Diplomatic Academy side.
Prof. Yakovenko briefed on the activity of the Academy. Being the oldest Diplomatic educational institution in the world, the Academy is renowned for its unique multidisciplinary academic and research activities. Apart from educating career diplomats, and offering professional development training for the diplomats in active service, they are providing scientific and political analysis for the Russian MFA and Russian Foreign Policy decision-makers.
Ambassador P.M. Amza and Ambassador A. Yakovenko had a substantial discussion on the main trends of the emerging world and future of diplomacy.
Ambassador P.M. Amza as a career diplomat was invited by the Rector of the Academy to deliver a lecture for their students on priorities of Sri Lanka in its Foreign Policy.
