On 28 August 2024, Ambassador P. M. Amza welcomed in the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow a delegation of the South-West State University headed by Ms. Ekaterina Pakhomova, Vice Rector for Scientific Work and International Activities.

The delegation also included Ms. Marina Brekhova, Dean, Faculty for Foreign Citizens, and Mr. Ivan Ivanov, Researcher at the Scientific Research Institute of Space Instrumentation and Radioelectronic Facilities of the University, while the Embassy was also represented by Ms. Ruvini Munidasa, Deputy Chief of Mission.
The sides discussed the potential for collaboration in the spheres of robot engineering, tourism, virtual reality, etc. In the course of a lively discussion, it was decided that both parties would take action to connect the South-West State University with a Sri Lankan counterpart, attract Sri Lankan undergraduates to the University online forums, arrange an internship programme for Russian hospitality students to Sri Lanka, etc.
