As part of the state assignment of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Chuvash State Pedagogical University held an international competition for artistic reading of A. S. Pushkin's poems in Russian for citizens of Sri Lanka. It was attended by the students of the University of Kelaniya, the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine and students of the Helena Wijayawardhana Balika Vidyalaya in Kelaniya. A total of 94 applications were submitted, 24 participants became award winners.

During the competition, the participants demonstrated their skills in reading of Pushkin's poems. The organizers noted the high degree of preparation of the contestants, their creative approach and respect for the literary heritage of the great Russian poet and writer. The Chuvash State Pedagogical University plans to conduct similar projects in the future to contribute to the development of cultural ties between Russia and Sri Lanka.
