On 8th October 2024, Ambassador P.M. Amza, the Head of the Sri Lankan Mission in the Russian Federation, participated in the Russian Environmental Forum. Ambassador P.M. Amza was one of the key speakers at the main Plenary Session called: «5 Years of the Future: focus on ecology and green investment».
The Plenary Session started with the introductory speech of the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Dmitry Patrushev and was also attended by Mr. Denis Butsayev, General Director of state-owned company Russian Environmental Operator, Mr. Ruslan Edelgeriev, Aide to the President of Russia, Mr. Sergey Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Governors of the regions and other dignitaries.
In his speech, Ambassador P.M. Amza emphasized the commitment of Sri Lanka towards the environment protection and waste management programme, highlighting the opportunities for cooperation with Russia including experience exchange, joint projects and collaboration in multilateral arena.
The 3-day Forum brought together more than 1500 participants including the main players in the field of solid waste management, representatives of the state apparatus, foreign diplomats and experts, industry specialists and entrepreneurs.
